We are the local unit of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary for Sackets Harbor, NY.
The Auxiliary is the all-volunteer civilian component of Team Coast Guard. We give of our time and talents to support the Coast Guard, conduct safety patrols, execute Search and Rescue missions, educate the public about boating safety, and much more. The Auxiliary is open to anyone who is a United States citizen aged 17 or older, and is free of felony convictions (a background check is required). Ownership of a facility (i.e. a boat, aircraft, or radio station) is desirable but not required. More importantly, we are looking for individuals who are willing to be trained and qualified, then actively participate in one or more of our programs.
Flotilla 1-2 is part of Division 1 along with our neighboring flotillas in Alexandria Bay, Ogdensburg, and Massena. Further, we are all part of the Ninth Caost Guard District, which encompasses the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence River. The District is divided into regions- we are in the Eastern Region, roughly corresponding to Coast Guard Sector Buffalo.
