Vessel Safety Checks

VSC logo

One of the major programs undertaken by the USCG Auxiliary is the Vessel Safety Check. This is where a trained and qualified Vessel Examiner will come aboard your boat and give you a couresy check of the condition of your vessel with an emphasis on safety. This check is not a law enforcement action, and is not reported to any law enforcement agency. Rather, it is a confirmation that your vessel is in compliance with all federal standards on the day of the exam. If your vessel passes, you will receive a decal to display on your boat, and a paper record. If not, the examiner will explain to you what is missing, and give you the opportunity to correct it. It is defintely a worthwhile thing to add to your pre-season to-do list every year. To aid you in your exam, we have added some information, and even some required items, to our community section.

We do hold occasional "blitzes" at local marinas and ramps. Although none are currently planned, keep an eye out. If you would like us to come to your marina, use the form below.

To arrange for a VE at your own convenience, please fill in the form below, and one of our examiners will contact you.
